My favorite memory of VBS is an accumulation of 25 years of teaching VBS. It is seeing unchurched kids who were dropped off at VBS by their parents, and then 15 years later, they are now bringing their own children to our VBS. And not just VBS, but to church as well. Because they felt something at our VBS, something that touched them, an unconditional love that they felt. A seed was planted. And now they are returning, bringing their children to find that same feeling they felt all those years ago. They have bloomed.

I think you are SO right! How kids FEEL when they come to church makes an impression so much longer than what they KNOW. While you can’t underestimate the importance of hearing amazing Bible stories and putting God’s Word into their hearts, you’ll never get that far unless and until a kid knows that you CARE. And once he knows that, the impact you can have in his life is extraordinary!! When he knows that he matters to you, he’ll care about what you have to say. And once he hears that he matters to God, that child will look at the world (and his place in it!) in a whole different way. Keep up God’s good work!
